Paul Hollywood’s Big Continental Road Trip, France on BBC2 featured a an interview with Henri Pescarolo. It took place in a cafe with a Bagheera the only car in the car park, so presumably that’s Henri’s favoured wheels.
The programme followed with a 7 up road trip in a Series One Espace which they were full of praise for.
Although ‘Matra’ appeared in graphics on screen they studiously avoided a verbal mention, but a good programme all the same. I’ve never seen ‘Bake Off’ but Paul Hollywood is actually an enthusiastic and knowledgeable motor presenter,
Not much at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed for Matra enthusiasts, but this Alpine A110 special was designed in 1969 by Denis Meyrignac so it would have been a contemporary to the M530. This prototype was completed in 1977 when the Bagheera was at maximum production.
I can’t help thinking that Denis Meyrignac was influenced by his namesake Denis Adams who had designed the Marcos Mantis XP endurance racer just a year earlier in 1968.
